Hi Everyone,
I'm using Windows XP Home edition ver. 2002 service pack 2. When i try to connect to a remote VPN server using microsoft's VPN client, i get verifying username and password and then after some time it says error 721: remote computer did not respond. I disabled the firewall. Please help. I've tried several places with no definitive answer.
Here's the output from pptpclnt.exe with firewall disabled:
C:\Documents and Settings\Pranav>pptpclnt 69.238.120.61

Here's a solution to my problem. Yup, i figured it out.
Yeah, i was trying to break my head with this thing for quite some time and did not realize that cisco's vpn client that i was using for yahoo ran a local server on my box that did its own firewalling. Hence even though i had disabled windows firewall, this cisco one was blcoking my outgoing GRE (IP Protocol 47) packets.
Remember that VPN Error 721 is primarily a firewall problem. So look at that when troubleshooting it.
Thanks to me :).
