XP SHUTS DOWN AUTOMATICALLY WHEN XP IS BOOTING

I have a PC with XP PRO. It shuts down automatically at the boot, just when
the windows logo appears a few moments with the blue progress bar. In Safe
Mode, the machine boots always correctly. It's curious, but with the ERD
Commander ( 2003 and 2005 ) it shuts down too at the same moment. I tried
to:

- Update BIOS
- Update Chipset
- Restore Windows to a Restore Point
- Remove all USB connections and put only keyboard anb mouse.
- Remove VGA card and plug a new one
- Install other mouse and other keyboard.
- Unistall the Microsoft uncertified drivers

I think that the fail is on a generic driver ( because it shuts down too
with ERD Commander ). But I want to know wich driver is to disconect the
hardware controlled by the driver.

¿any ideas?.

Thanks.

System Properties > Advanced > [Startup and Recovery]Settings

Remove the checkmark from "Automatically Restart" in the System Failure
section.

This will give you a blue error screen telling you the exact problem.
Repost it here and we will try to help some more. Good Luck,

Joe

If you think it's a driver problem you can use Driver Verifier to
check which driver might be giving you problems.

Not sure about ERD but XP shutting down right at the point of starting
the desktop could ba a sign of a corrupt profile.

System Properties > Advanced > [Startup and Recovery]Settings ?

Right click My Computer | Properties | Advanced tab | Startup and Recovery -
Settings. XP's Help and Support is very helpful. Click Start | Help and
Support, and search on the topic such as System Properties or Startup and
Recovery Settings. It will tell you all this.
