error
installation failed :D:\1386\asms. error message: manifest
parse error : invalid at the top level of the document

fatal error
one of the components that windows needs to continue set
up could not be installed

any help would be much appreciated.

Hi

That error message could be symptomatic of a bad burn. Are you using the original XP CD to install from? If not, have you got access to the original XP CD to try that?
