Janet

I'm getting the following message which is fatal during my
attempts to upgrade from ME to XP Pro.
Error: SXS.DLL: Syntax error in manifest or policy file
E:\1386\asms\6000
\msft\windows\common\controls\controls.man" on line 0.
Error: Installation failed: E:\1386\asms.error message:
manifest parse error: invalid at the top level of the
document. One of the components that Windows needs to
continue setup could not be installed.
Manifest parse error: Invalid at the top of the
document.

Can anyone out there help me?

"Manifest Parse Error" is indicative of a bad CD. Use the
original Windows XP installation CD. If you are using it,
then request a replacement.
