I have hade nothing but problems w/ Windows Me. I am
attempting to upgrade to Windows XP and during the
installation I get stopped by a Fatal Error message which
reads:

Error:SXS.DLL: Syntax error in Manifest or Policy
File "D:\I386\asms\6000
\MSFT\Windows\Common\Controls\controls.man" on line 0.

Error Message: Manifest Parse
Error: Invalid at the top levelof the document

Can someone please offer me some assistance so I can get
my computer up and running again?

"Manifest Parse Error" is indicative of a bad CD. Use the
original Windows XP installation CD. If you are using it,
then request a replacement.
