XP Search Freezes

If i use 'search' from the start menu and enter a file name to search, the
programme freezes once the search is complete. I have to ctrl+alt+del and
cloes it from there. This is everytime I use it but has only started
recently. I have done a system restore to a while back before I noticed it
happening but that didnt work - some other xp features are starting to freeze
also but not as obvious and consistent as this one, Any ideas?
