Hi- I have xp pro- 448 mb ram, over 40 gigs free hard drive space,
intel 733, NortonAV, spyware/adware free. When it freezes, even Ctrl,
alt, del does nothing. Never freezes on boot, just after running
awhile. didn't make any changes prior to this starting to happen.
Anyone have any ideas? Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Hmmm..
Bad RAM?
Overheating?
Defective hard drive/controller?

Are you SURE it is spyware/adware free..?
What 4 or more antispyware applications have you ran lately? (MS AntiSpyware
Beta doesn't count in my listings. hehe)

As this is an old computer I would first suggest checking the CPU Fan - it
might not be working.

First thing is to make sure it is not overheating. If not , boot into Safe
Mode. Let run and see if you have the freeze - up problem. If not your
problem may be a driver that you have installed to run a peripheral. If it
still freezes it may be caused by poor or bad ram. These are a FEW of the
troubleshooting procedures that you can try. Good luck . JJ

I run spybot, adaware, spysweeper and spy dr once every two weeks. But
one of my two case cooling fans has stopped working. That might be it-
thanks for the help.
