XP restore crashes

I installed a new driver for my multi-
printer/print/fax..etc. machine. The new and improved
scanner driver turned out to be a WIA driver, not a
TWAIN. My scanner does not work with my apps w/ the WIA
driver and I can't seem to change back to the old
driver. I have never used System Restore, so this is a
perfect time... except it crashes before even loading. I
can post the error message if it helps.

No need. All you have to do is rollback the driver and it will go back to
the previously installed driver. Check out this article on rolling back
device drivers.
