Repair WIA component in WinXP home

Hello,

I am having a problem with WIA in WinXP Home SP2. I have a Visioneer
scanner. It installed a TWAIN and supposedly WIA scanner driver.
However the scanner does not show up under Scanners and Cameras in
WinXP control panel. I have tried to uninstall the driver and
reinstall it. Also I'm sure the WIA service is running and is set to
automatic.

What else can be done to fix WIA scanners/cameras?

Mike, is it an old scanner. Using USB. My scanners USB failed moons
ago. So I am using the parallel connector. Slow but works.
