XP Reinstalled-Now CD-Rom Drive Gone!

I couldn't get XP reinstalled on my computer myself, so I had an IT person at
work do it for me. Finally got my computer back & although she used the
CD-Rom drive to install XP, the CD-Rom drive is now not being read. Can't
reinstall software! If this is wrong area for this post, please recommend a
better one. Thanks!
 
Power off computer,move the drive to another connection on a IDE cable,set
the plastic jumper pin for slave or master on the cdrom,start computer.
