XP Reinstall

my mouse has started acting funny - the curser will jump
around on the screen at times, not always; disapear and
show up somewhere-else and has started logging me off aol
everyso-often... I had downloaded all MS updated and
didn't catch the bugs... I think it's either the mouse
itself, because i'm pretty rough on it, or it's drivers.
I've checked connections their all fine, my question is:

If I reinstall my Win XP to validate the mouse drivers
will it keep all the updates or loose them.?

Reinstalling XP does just that,and reinstalling the up
dates.Try going to device mgr,see if theres info on the
mouse,also event viewer might give info.To validate all
drivers,go to run,type:SigVerif
