XP Pro upgrade to SP3

I just upgraded from SP1 to SP3. The only problem I've found after installing
sp3, is that when I select a .txt file in Windows Explorer it does not open in
my text editor. I get an error message "File xxx doesn't exist. Create it?"

Anybody know of a fix for this?

TIA

The file association for the .txt filetype needs to be refreshed. Start/run,

Filetypes tab, scroll to .txt, Advanced button, change some setting, apply,
change back, apply.

Mark,

Thanks for the reply. I have done that to no avail. So I went to add&remove
programs and removed my text editor (Super NoteTab). Rebooted my machine.
Went into the registry (via regedit) and searched for all occurrences left
over and
deleted them. Rebooted. Ran RegClean, and rebooted. Reloaded my text
editor, and changed the associations for txt from notepad to supernotetab.

Still no go. I changed the file association back to notepad and it opens txt
files fine. Changed the file associations it back to supernotetab and get
the
error message again.

Your problem is similar to the "Use DDE" setting in Word. I would try both
with and without DDE for Super Notetab.

I don't understand. Is this a setting with in my app (Super Notetab) or
something
I need to set in windows?

It's a property of the Filetype setting for .txt in Folder Options

Mark,

Thanks again. I found out why I couldn't figure out what you were talking
about.
When I try to edit the TXT type, I don't get the advanced box so I can't set
the DDE option. I created a new type (.kma) and then I got the advanced
button and saw the dde box you were talking about.

So I wasn't able to change the dde type for txt. Don't know why/how I fixed
it, but I uninstalled my older version of Super Notetab, searched the
registry for any left overs of it, and ran regclean. Then I rebooted for
clear out the registry. Then I found a newer version of Super NoteTab.
Loaded it, and all is well.

I hate updating software. :)

Thanks again for your help. If you have any idea why I don't get the
advanced button so I can set the dde please let me know.
