XP Pro SP-2

I am running a computer with XP Home SP-1 and have now got XP Pro, I've
slipstreamed SP-2 into it and was wondering if I could use it to upgrade
over the home edition or will it work doing a repair install, the copy of XP
Pro is not an upgrade version cd.

Thanks

You can upgrade with either a full or upgrade version. You will be asked
that during the install.

Can this be done by booting from the cd? or will I need to run setup from
within windows?

To upgrade, run from the system you are upgrading. You *can* do so for
a clean install too, but usually better to boot the CD and make sure you
delete the current partition (and make a new one), not just do a New
install into it
