Hi,

I just bought a new computer. It had nothing on it when i got it so
installed Windows XP Proffesional.
It was perfect, It had the logon on before it loads the desk top an
when you press Ctrl + Alt + Delete it came up with a different windo
to XP Home. It had like 6 different options. To go to Task Manager
Shut Down, Log off etc.

Then i got a virus a couple of days later and it stuffed my computer s
i reformatted as i had nothing installed anyway and now the compute
looks like XP HOME. It doesnt have the logon. And when i press CTRL
ALT + DELETE it just pops up Task Manager straight away.

I know its nothing important but without those things it make me fee
like im using XP Home again even though theres not much difference.

Does anyone know where the setting are to change the CTRL + ALT
Delete thing?

Oh also when i first got it i installed the modem and it connected t
the internet fine. After i formatted it wont connect properlly and whe
it does i get a crappy 26.3k speed not the usual 56+k.
This is probally i question i should ask my isp though.

Just seems wierd these features arnt there and everything is no
working that same as when i first installed XP Pro.

PS - The computer is a Compaq and i had to use the restore disk t
reformat it so it installed all the compaq junk with it. As this wa
the only way cause i did not have a Windows Boot Disk.

Cheers,
Scot

First, do the following:
Go to Start -> Control Panel and double click on User Accounts.
Click on "Change the way users log on or off".
Remove the check mark from the box next to "Use the Welcome
Screen".
Hit the Apply Options button.
Test by hitting Ctrl + Alt + Del.

Next, go to the Compaq web site and find updated drivers for
your modem.

Good luck
