XP PRO Adding 1GIG for 3GIG RAM

I tried to add 1 gig of RAM and Windows will not load. Safe mode or normal
mode. It does the bar like it is going to the XP loading screen then it goes
blank and has a white Block up in the upper hand corner of the screen and
freezes. MY Motherboard (MSI KT4AV-L) supports 3gig of 3200 DDR RAM and all
3 memory chips are the same chip. Centon 1GIG 3200 DDR chips. Power up and
bios all see the RAM fine and honestly FLY now but I can't get Windows to
load it up. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not sure if a format will
do the trick or not and before I go to that extreme want to find out if
there's any other issues that might cause the problem.

Remove the new memory stick and see if you can boot. If you can then
re-install the new stick making sure it's fully and firmly seated in the ram
slot and then try rebooting.

If the problem still occurs then use Memtest86+ to verify the memory is good
and not failing at some point.

MY bad for not posting that bit. Yea I can boot fine if I take it back out.
It's brand new. Will try to test it again. Thanks.

STill no go. I swapped out the chip with one of the old ones and it's fine.
So it's just Windows won't let me boot up with the 3 gig.

Almost certainly not Windows. Windows is fine with up to 4 gb of RAM
and there are a large number of users who have successfully ran
Windows XP with more than 3 gb of RAM and who continue to do so.

The most likely culprit is your motherboard hardware or BIOS although
incompatibility between the RAM modules is another possibility.

Good luck
