Windows xp pro major issues dont know what to do..

Ok about a year ago i bought and made my own system.. i got an asus
motherboard and 2 compatable ram chips.. every time i would put 2 chips in
the system would flip out with blue screens.. a year later needed more ram
i decided to try again... the ram slots were giving me trouble.. (all 3 of
them) and sometimes would only work a certain way.. had to wiggle the ram
chip.. so i put the second ram chip in (both are 512 pc 3200 ddr) and my
system died... missing files constant and totally random blue screen
errrors.... i put the one ram chip back in where it was when everythign was
working fine.. now im missing some system file etc.. and totally random blue
screen crashes... i tried doing several system restores (each one acted
different ie would crash at different parts) i FINALLY got into windows but
all my settings are gone... it struggles to load in after i type in my
password.. then just immediatly restarts.... scandisk keeps finding random
errors.. then next time its fine.. then errors then its fine.. it looks
like everything is intact its just not letting me in.... im gonna be up a
lil while watching this post.. please help me =\ or if more info is needed
just ask i can provide.....

Just buy a new motherboard and start fresh! heh

yes but.... how could just putting ram in screw up files on the harddrive or
corrupt them? or is it possible

I cannot say it is impossible. If you were able to boot with the corrupted
RAM or you tried to boot, failed, it went to "Last Known Good Configuration"
or it tried to write something to the hard drive from the bad RAM (meaning
it was likely scrambled at that point to) - then in theory, yes - it could.
