XP Prefetch Question

kraut

I know what "prefetch" supposedly means but under Windows in Prefetch
sub-directory there are a huge amount of files such as
MSIMN.EXE-183B59AF.pf

If these files do as the directory name impies is this a features that
can be turned off??

Please before everyone tells me why I should or should not can you
please answer the question THEN tell me why I should leave it alone??

Thanks much all.

Yes - you can turn off prefetch.

As for why you should leave it alone - don't care if you do or not, but, you
should probably understand things before you mess with them...

(Search the page for "Prefetch" and then read/follow additional links in
that section.)

What is prefetch?

Can't someone make it better? "If it ain't broke don't fix it" is stupid
thinking.
Don't update if you don't have a problem??? Ridiculous.
Ever hear of preventive maintenance?
