My problem is i have already used the activation code on the new
computer and now can't use it on my laptop, I cant reinstall XP
home because My laptop didn't come with the discs!
What Should I Do?
You had an existing and functional laptop with Windows XP Home Edition
installed on it.
You purchased a new computer that came with Windows XP Media Center Edition.
You decided to ignore the EULA and install the one license of Windows XP
Media Center Edition that was up and running on the new PC on the Windows XP
Home Edition (then fully functional) laptop as well.
Your laptop did not come with CDs (although it had to come with some way to
restore it to its purchased state UNLESS you bought it second hand or its
purchased state was not with an OS) or (I suppose) instructions on how to
restore it to its originally purchased state OR you blew away that method
when you wiped all partitions on it and installed the 2nd (unlicensed) copy
of Windows XP Media Center onto it.
Now you need to wipe the laptop and install the Windows XP Home Edition
software back on it so that it can again be a useful computer instead of a
2.5lb to 5lb paperweight. However - you have no way to do this for whatever
reason.
Do you have a COA (a sticker on the laptop that has the CD key for Windows
XP Home)?
If not - this is where you are at:
1) Contact those you bought the laptop from and find out how to obtain the
media to do the reinstall.
or
2) Go to a store or your favorite online retailer and spend money on a new
copy of Windows XP.
