XP or DVD ?

Can anyone help. When i shut down my pc the dvd player
opens, it stays that way until i restart.

Any ideas

I have had that problem when some software is waiting for a cd-rom or dvd to
be loaded. It sounds like you didn't 'exit' from that software so it is
still trying to work.
