xp on tablet pc

hello
i have a hp tablet from new with installation disks
i am trying to install xp tablet edition on to the original hard drive
that has been erased /formatted
i have used another machine to install from the disks however i keep
getting an error which is missing or corrupt hal.dll and i have
replaced this file from the other machine which is obviously working
in that machine
what else should i be doing to install
the tablet has only a usb cd and no floppy
