I have a machine I built and put XP full edition on. I would like to use the
machine as a server using Windows Server software. My question will I be
able to put my copy of XP on another machine without the warning that this
product key is in use?

By full edition, do you mean a retail version or an OEM version of XP? An
OEM version of XP is tied to the PC it came with. For a retail version, you
will have to activate the software which will probably require a call to MS
unless the two PCs' hardware is nearly identical.

Yes if it was a retail version, no if it was an OEM version.

As long as you remove XP from the machine you will be using as a server and
that copy of
XP is a retail version which I think you implied by using the word "full
edition" you should
not have any problem installing XP on another PC.

Should for some reason you can not activate XP over the internet you can
always activate
by phone.

Probably. But it wouldn't hurt to buy another full retail version just to be
sure.

If it's been over 120 days since the last activation, you will activate
on line in seconds.

If it's retail and not OEM you'll be fine.

Actually, if it's a generic OEM, he would be fine as well if it's been
over 120 days since the last activation/major hardware upgrade.

When I said fine I was referring to the EULA, whether he wants to keep
inline with it or not is up to him.

Assuming a retail license (OEM licenses are not legitimately
transferable), simply remove WinXP from the computer it is currently on
and then install it on the new computer. If it's been more than 120
days since you last activated that specific Product Key, the you'll most
likely be able to activate via the Internet without problem. If it's
been less, you might have to make a 5 minute phone call.
