I am attempting to install XP OEM on a new hard drive but
keep receiving error message "An unexpected error has
occurred.(0) occurred at line 1768 in
D:\xpclient\base\boot\setup\arcdisp.c." Any help greatly
appreciated!

Thanks, I had assumed the number in parenthesis (0) was
specific - I will check the RAM.

Bill,

Did you try "option 3" in the referenced KB article? Some RAM modules just
aren't compatible with WinXP.

If you replace them, I highly recommend Kingston ValueRam. It's the only RAM
that I use with WinXP on my machines or those of clients. Some other brands
may work fine and others may not, so (IMNSHO) it's not worth the hassle to
save a dollar or two per stick.
