XP Notifications

I don't want "Windows Genuine Advantage Notification" or IE 7.0 on my
computer. However Microsoft has decided I should have it. How do you
stop Microsoft from requesting I download this every single day without
turning off notifications? TIA

When you get the yellow shield prompting you for updates, click on it.
Now you will have the Windows Update install box with two choices:
Express and Custom. Choose Custom and click next. You will be able to
uncheck the updates you don't want. There is also a box you can check
that says something like "Don't bother me about these updates again".
