XP: "No CD in drive" -- won't play CDs sometimes

S

Sam

Hi

I'm using an new laptop with XP Pro and Windows Media Player 10, which
sometimes won't accept perfectly good CDs.

I get "No CD in drive" -- and they just won't play. I'm not sure but I
think it's some kind of copy protection.

But I paid for my CD's and I want to play all my music off my laptop like an
Ipod using Win Media Player.

Any suggestions why I'd be having this problem and how I might fix it?

Your helpful comments would be greatfully appreciated.

Thanks for your kind help

Sam

This has absolutely nothing to do with Windows XP or copy protection. This
happens from time to time with CD/DVD players. Just make sure that each CD
is clean before you insert.

Hi Sam,

Pick up a CD lens cleaner disk at any local store that sells disks and run
it on the laptop. It's likely just some buildup on the lens, and this will
resolve it.
