How to disable All special features on Windows Media with music CDs

Is there a way to disable all those extra features that are loaded on
music CDs? I use Windows Media Player and have had all kinds of
problems with them, and my Media Player is really the only source of
crashes I have with my computer. I listen to music sometimes and have
absolutely no interest in visiting the web site of whomever is on the
CD. I don't want any flashy programs running. I just want the music.
I'd like to set up my player so it ALWAYS overlooks that crap.

Can this be done?

Thanks.

Are you playing music off the internet through Media Player, like internet
radio, or are you actually playing a pre-recorded, factory produced music
CD? I have never heard of music CD's that included web content. Maybe I'm
behind the times. None of my music CD's have any web content on them, just
music.

These are legal, store-bought CDs. Many of them have Quicktime type
features that try to take me online to the band's site, and some are
supposed to have special access on those sites for people with the CD.
I only want the music read directly from the CD rather than have these
pop-up programs instead of music. They are both annoying and the
source of crashes for me.
