XP machine keystroke/mouse delay when connected to internet

XP home. Fine using local machine but when connected to net (wireless),
takes a few keystrokes or mouse clicks only and sits - presumably doing
something in the background. After many seconds I get the cursor back for a
few more keystrokes. I have done the usual - defrag, tuning etc and checked
all the settings I know about with no success. The connection is fine
because there is another PC connected with loss of performance. So it's got
to be my PC or some internet setting has got changed. Any ideas please?

Desparate!

I am having a similar issue. Since installing the latest updates, my pointer
intermittantly disappears (in any program) but will still highlight the items
where it is located. Also, the boot time on my computer has more than
doubled. Any one else having these issues and know how to help?

Mine just seemed to happen (SP 2) when I changed from one router to another
but having changed again since then and back on the original, the problem is
still there. I agree with your comments - although I haven't noticed any
boot slowdown, after a reboot, it seems to be OK for a few minutes then lose
the mouse and keyboard. Could it be some obscure caching problem? If
somebody can shed some light it would stop me pulling out my hair!

Mine is doing it all the time, not just while using IE. My home computer is
also now suffering from the slow boot disease, but not the pointer issues. I
have run several different virus and spyware softwares on both computers and
each comes up clean. This is why I associate the issues with the windows
updates from April 9th. I hope someone can help!
