I have an XP machine with a PCI wireless card hooked to wifi internet.
I have another XP machine with no wireless and no internet
I would like to use machines 1 internet to do live updates on machine 2
what i would like to do is use Ethernet between the machines to do this.
How do i set up both XP machines to do this?
can i do a direct connect with a crossover cable, or do i need to use a
router?

For two machines, you don't need a router, really. Does that then imply that
you're either dialup or are direct connected to the 'net for DSL?

Simply put the two machines on a LAN setup (cable crossover type OK) and let
the second machine use the other machine's internet connection. I think it's
called ICS? Not positive. Easy to set up though; check Help and look under
LAN for the Home Lan parts.

Wikipedia has a link.

and an article on ICS.

A hub, a router or a x-over cable will all work. Setup, see Internet
Connection Sharing Setup in Windows XP Help
