I am managing a lab that has a mix of win98 and XP. We are making the lab to run thought the steps to migrate from Win 98 to XP. I am having a problem getting the XP workstations to log onto the domain. All the servers are part of the domain already
What could be some things I could look at that would stop me from finding thedomain? I have made certain that
I am in the correct subne
I have a fully qualified computer name that includes the domain name in i
I have placed the Primary DNS suffix of the computer in the DNS Suffix and NetBIOS bloc
The computer can ping the DNS by name and by IP addres
I have noticed that I cannot "escape" the workgroup I am in. This XP workstation is still in a work group. When I try to type the name of the domain in the domain block nothing happens. The servers (IIS and file server) can see the DC and have entrys in the COMPUTER tab in the Active Directory. I am not using DHCP and all computers have IPs assigned. This domain is in a lab and is not connected to the internet so all the computers must depend on my DC
