XP keeps loading

Hi. I have windows xp pro service pack 2. When I turn on my computer it
looks like windows is going to load but instead of going into the main screen
the screen goes black and then back to windows loading all over again.
What can I do to fix it

Do you have any ideas at all about what might be causing this? New or
changed software? New hardware?

Can you start in Safe Mode?
