I just installed Windows XP on a PC built with
the ASUS A7M266 MB. I reformatted and did a full
install, no upgrade.

-though I partitioned the 40 gig drive into two 20 gig
partitions, XP only sees the 20 gig C drive, making
the two CDs drive D and E. If I boot off floppy, there
is a 20 gig C and 20 gig D drive, with the CDs E and F.
Why doesn't XP see the 2nd partition?

-I did have to find new drivers for some things as I
brought up XP, but I continue to get a msg. that I
need "VIA bus master IDE drivers". None of my
CDs seem to have that. Would you expect this on
the XP disc?, the Motherboard disc?, or where?

Have you actually formatted the second partition?

I believe I did. I think I must have because
when I booted from the floppy, it used the D
drive (2nd partition) as a ramdisk. I don't
think it could have done that had it not been
formatted. true?

False.

Ramdisks are created in RAM not on harddrives.

"Trustworthy Computing" is only another example of an Oxymoron!
"Produkt-Aktivierung macht frei!"

thanks. I will try and reformat the 2nd partition
only and hope it doesn't hose my initial install,
and windows can see it.

thanks again for your response!
