XP Install cancellation problem

I have a AMD 64 3500+ 939 PIN on a Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI motherboard. GV-3DI
dual 6600 gt graphics.
Running windows xp home edition 2002
I had a problem with the op sys so tried to run the repair program from the
installation disc. Pressed the wrong key and initiated the install program.
The program has stalled looking for a file I cannot locate
I have tried to abort the installation but find I am in a loop where the
system on reboot keeps going to the setup program and stalling at the same
point.
How do I get out of this and back to the original xp installation?
Please keep the solution in simple speak as I'm a bit long in the tooth
Many thanks

Hi,

when you reboot the info at the beginning of the boot up will ask at some
point which operating system you want to use : Windows XP or Windoes XP setup
programme. You will need to select Windows XP and press enter to access your
original system.

The system will default to the setup programme if nothing is pressed within
a few seconds so you need to watch and be quick

Alan,
My thanks for the response. I tried your sugestion but there is no choice
given; it just goes straight into the 'restart setup' program. Any other
ideas?
