XP, IE 6 and pdf documents

Jeff

Hi

I am running XP home and have both Internet Explorer 6 and Mozilla browsers.

When I access a PDF document on the web, Mozilla correctly opens it in my
Acrobat Reader. However my IE 6 just presents a blank page. How can I get
IE6 to automatically open PDF documents in my Adobe Reader?

Thanks.

Thanks Kaylene. I accessed the page. It said:
" CAUSE: This behavior occurs because the uniform resource identifier (URI)
to the
..pdf file does not end in ".pdf" (for example, the file is opened through
script or the file is dynamically generated), and the content-type header
(Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions [MIME] type) that is returned by the
server is "unknown/unknown" or no content-length header was returned. Note
that previous versions of Internet Explorer that support Netscape-style
plug-ins may open the .pdf file without a content-type header. "

However this does not explain why I.E.6 cannot do what Mozilla does
effortlessly and according to the above quote, that previous versions of IE
apparently could do! Seems like IE6 took a step backwards rather than
forwards. Any way to make IE6 behave like "previous versions" of IE or like
Mozilla?

Hi Jeff, I can't answer your question regarding IE not be able to do what
Mozilla does. Perhaps someone on the IE NG might assist.
