Viewing .pdf documents

Old Dude

Sorry to rehash this topic, but my problem seems to differ from what I see
here. I am running XP SP2 (current on patches) and IE7 (same). I can view
..pdf documents online with IE7 just fine using Adobe Reader 8.1.1, Fox-It
Reader or PDF-Viewer...except when those documents are on a secure site
(https://). I either get an error message to the effect that the document
cannot be downloaded, or that the URL or document is broken. Some examples of
documents that I cannot view: pay stubs, account summaries, etc. I never had
this problem when I was using IE6 and Adobe Reader 6 or 7. I am using the
freeware PDF-Viewer currently; Adobe's Reader 8.1.1 couldn't display any
..pdf's behind an HTTPS site. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Were you properly logged and/or connected into those secure sites? If
you had access previously, then it just might mean re-establishing the
bi-directional link between IE7 and the secure site, such as customizing
the security setting or advanced tab in IE's properties. It will also
be beneficial to contact the secure site's administrator if any special
configuration settings are required.

This may or may not help, but from my cable company I've never been able to view my statements online as .pdf's but I can right-click the link and Save As and have no problem then viewing them offline.
