XP Home Version RE-boot Loop

Hi.

I origally had a problem with Explorer. It would not
bring up any pages even though there were no connectivity
problems. Messenger and e-mail works fine. I decided to
re-install service pack 1. It took 18 hours to unpack,
cpu was at 100%. After it finished this morning, I re-
booted the pc. It starts, gets the initial ms screen,
then re-boots again. It stays in a loop. What options
do I have. I do not have a disk re-boot. Can I start the
install over again. I tried re-booting from the Dell XP
CD, but I have the same problem. Any suggestions?

I change the system to reboot to the CD. It just
continues to reboot over and over. What about video
drivers. Could they have been overwritten during the
install of sp1?

Hmmmm. If u think its yr video card, start windows in safe mode. then try reinstalling the driver. If u installed something new and then it started to misbehave try using system restore in safe mode.

I am a beginner trying to setup XP on a new system and I may have encountered that same problem. I bought all new equipment except for a DVD-ROM and CD-RW from the old system. It turns out that XP didn't like the old DVD-ROM from 1998. It would just keep re-booting right after the BIOS loaded. The newer CD-RW worked fine.
