XP Home SP1

I have re-formatted the hard drive of a Pentium4 1.9ghz for my friend to
use. I have re-installed XP Home (pre SP1) and now wish to download and
install the updates.

My internet connection is via wireless ADSL Router with wireless laptop.

I connected usb wireless adaptor to P4, but software requires SP1 before
installation. Once wireless adapter is fitted, I can connect to Windows
Update. Until then, I can't, so have looked everywhere on www so I can
download file to laptop, copy to usb hard drive and then to P4, so I can
install wireless adaptor software and then connect to Windows Update.

Does anybody know where I can download it from?

thanks

You can download SP2, but will have to go to Windows Update for the
more recent Updates - it's a 266 MB download:

I don't know if it's now possible to download SP1.

I agree with Will - Get SP2.

However - you can download SP1a if you desire to increase your pain (or
don't have anything large enough to hold SP2 - but can handle 135MB..)

Don't connect to the Internet for any reason (including Windows Updates)
until either a firewall, a NAT router, or SP2 is is installed. You will be
infected with a worm within minutes of connecting. Once the worm is on the
computer it is wide open for other malware to get in. The computer will be
broadcasting it's infected status on the Internet allowing anyone free
access.

As others have mentioned your best option is to download SP2 and burn it to
CD on another computer then install it from the CD.
