XP Home Restarting and errors

J

Joe

Have a fresh install, all the updates, and the newest
drivers for my system. (System: XP Home, AMD 2600+, ATi
9700 pro, USR v.92 modem, Audigy 1 gamer, Samsung 950p
monitor)
Scrubbed and started over, but the same problem is back.
First the system would go from any resolution to 480x600
and say there was a device driver conflict. I could not
find this through any of the normal tests. Now the
computer locks up and then restarts. It does this only
when I am online. It may lock up after one minute or it
may wait hours then do this. Normally, it restarts at the
3-7 minute mark. I have installed and uninstalled drivers
for the video card, the sound card, modem, and monitor.
Nothing seems to effect this. Any ideas what next?
Reformat with a sledge hammer?

Thanks

Before you run in all the windows updates does it work normally?
If so try to install one and one update. And see wich update that f**k your computer.
If not, have you checked the log file on your computer?
check for fault under system, and look at the the IRQs. Is there some IRQ conflicts?
Does it only crash when you are online, you say. have you checked for virus, and please install the firewall before you go online. this is a firewal i use and it will also check for bugbares that is keept in your system and tries to go out from your computer. Program called tiny personal firewall. You should try it out.

I hope some of this helps, if not I just wasted my time.

Best regards
