xp pro restarts

I have just installed xp pro on my computer and it installs normally and
goes into windows but when i try to install my drivers for perphierals
(modem , Graphics , and Ethernet) it seems to find them on the disk but as
soon it it starts to copy them i get a bleep followed by a restart.
Anybody come across this before it doing my head in now.
anyhelp appreciated had to send this on a friends comp as i cant get the
modem working without the driver.

Hi,

Have you installed the motherboard drivers yet? Those would be my first
concern, as they can affect how the system handles subsequent installations.

I have installed the Via 4 in 1 driver hoping to get the sound to work (with
out avail), by the way it is a jetway board.

you first install the basic drivers which have come with your
motherboard CD.Then you visit the respective manufacturer's websites to
download and install the latest drivers.
