XP home(OEM)-SP2-IE6 connection lost

After installing SP2 I lose my internet dialup ability. The modem make no
dialing sound but dialup window says dialing then connection failed. If I
restore to prior SP2 install then all works ok.
I disabled antivirus etc when installing SP2 and checked for viruses and
spyware etc... nothing found. Any idears please

Installl SP1 with the internet settings working then install SP2,

I have installed IE6 SP1 and XP SP2 and now all seems to be in order.
The only small thing now is that I have lost the modem dialup sound and the
traffic light system in the bottom corner tray! but I can live without them!
Again many thanks for your assistance.
