Just done a spring cleaning of my XP Home with various anti virus, and those
cannot be cleaned were deleted. However upon reboot each time, the My
Documents dialogue page will automatically appear (where you can see the My
Music folder, My Picture folder etc).
Please advice how do I stop this from appearing by itself. Appreciate your
assistance

Keith, go to Start>Run type: regedit and Navigate to

Using Regedit, change the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS NT\CURRENT VERSION\WINLOGON
Change USERINIT from
C:\windows\system32\userinit.exe,c:\windows\system32\userinit.exe to
C:\windows\system32\userinit.exe,

The 'Userinit' is current having data as "C:\windows\system32\userinit.exe",
so don't know whats wrong with the pc.

Feel strange, normally you expect when we type 'regedit, it will give us the
main 5 root directory, but just now when I typed 'regedit', it came straight
to the place where I last visited. Does it seems right?

May I just add, the first time I boot up after the scan, it give messages
like "Window cannot find 'win ssv.exe' Make sure you typed the name
corrrectly & try again........'". It has a box for you to click 'ok'. which I
did.
When I click 'ok', there are other messages like [[
' ... cannot find sys32snd.exe...',
' ... cannot find xpndis.exe.....',
' ... cannot find tvl.exe...',
' ... spoolsvc.exe...'. ]]
However, since then when I reboot after the above few messages does not
appear any more. I hope the above will be of help as how we can prevent the
"My Document" from appearing automatically. Please help and many thanks.

by a Worm.

As it stand now, in the msconfig, its uncheck for the few items I mentioned
before.
I suppose I will do another 'Housecall/micro trend' scan and for those it
says 'it cannot be clean', do I then delete them. This infected hdd, I
suppose I have to 'Disable the system restore' before attached as secondary
hdd and scan. (earlier scan I did not 'Disable SR' Please advice as I do not
know much about pc, many thanks.
