My system automatically logs off after logging on.

The background picture is flashed and then it automatically logs off. I
booted in safe mode and logged in as Administrator but it still logs off
immediately after logging on.

I set the drive up as a second drive and ran anti-virus and anti-spam
programs and it is clean.

Not sure what to do next to fix it.

While it is connected as a second drive, backup all of your important
files, then put it back and re-install Windows. When safe mode doesn't
work, this is the quickest way to get back to normal.

Hello There.
I am having the same exact problem. I had a horrible virus on my computer,
and I proceeded to download a malware remover. It downloaded fine, and seemed
to have fixed everything because my computer appeared to be functioning well.
After one of the scans, my computer prompted a restart. My computer then
rebooted, and brought me to a "choose user" screen. Either user I choose
(guest, or myself) logs in, and immediately logs off. I tried to go into safe
mode but it will not let me. is there anyway to fix this? Will I lose my
files? Is there a way to save my files?
Thanks for your help,

You should have started your own thread...

IMHO, the quickest way to recover from your situation is to boot your
machine from the CD/DVD drive using a free Live Linux boot CD (such as
Knoppix) or one of the Windows PE CDs such as "Bart PE" or "Ultimate
Boot CD for Windows". Once you boot from the CD, you can back up your
files using a USB drive or over a network connection. After backing
up your files, you can re-install Windows. I prefer the Linux disks as
they seem to provide better USB support than the others and it's
easier to burn the CD.
