XP Home installation stalls

I'm trying a fresh install of WinXP Home on my computer. It goes fine
up until the point where it asks for my country, and area
code--apparently to configure a dialup connection. After I enter the
area code, the installation process hangs while trying to install the
network part. I've tried disconnecting the computer and installing
again, but I get the same problem. Anyway, the computer is connected to
the Internet by cable modem, so the dialup info is not needed at all.
However the installation process won't let me proceed unless I enter
the phone information. How can I get past this point?

You could temporarily remove the dialup modem from the computer then do a
fresh install. That will bypass the dialup setting part of the setup.
