Can anyone tell me the manual settings for the tcp/ip properties on the lan
conections on the client and host pc's? I know the host ip is set to
192.168.0.1 when ics is set up and know that i have to set up the client in a
set range to correspond and have done so. and that the gateway setting on the
client should be 192.168.0.1. But what about the dns settings on both? Do I
have to set a gateway ip on the host end, if so what should it be? I can get
both machines to file and printer share but cannot get the client to access
the internet. The host machine is connected to the net via a usb adsl modem
and to the ethernet via a 10/100 hub and wap to the client which has a usb
wap.

When running the network sharing wizard it should of bridged the connections
for you. Try to manually bridge the two network connections on your host
machine...or possibly just sharing the connection will suffice. Most of the
time ICS will configure all of this for you if you use the wizard to set it
up. You should not have to manually configure the dns, gateway and IP on the
client machine.

Don't make any manual TCP/IP setting on the host. Enabling ICS will
configure everything there.

On the client, you can either:

1. Configure it to obtain its IP address and DNS settings
automatically, or:

2. Make these settings manually:

IP Address: 192.168.0.x (1<x<255)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS Server = 192.168.0.1 or your ISP's DNS server
