I have an XP HOME Edition PC which was running SP1a and working fine until....
Automatic install of SP2 took place. After reboot, login would AUTOMATICALLY
log off (same results in Last Known Good and Safe mode, VGA, etc.).
Soooo.....
Started a repair from HOME Edition CD (no incorporated SP)and during install
(accidentally) powered off PC.
NOW...I get normal XP Home Edition "loading" screen and then nothing but a
black blank screen for all logins, including Safe Mode, VGA and LKG modes
(although I can move mouse around). So O/S seems to be there, but somethings
missing.
Would be nice if there might be a way to reset the system into thinking that
it has NOT yet done a repair (FYI - currently restarting repair gives same
results). FYI - I CAN get into Recovery Console, but don't know what to do
after that to get it to boot.
Would prefer not to have to wipe clean and start from scratch.
Any ideas?
