Have you resolved this? I have the same concern: Windows XP SP2 home
edition, hibernation not supported (in the CMOS, ACPI options S1 or S3
only), no Hibernation tab in the control panel, nevertheless,
hiberfil.sys is created each time the system is booted. Big file.
Is yours a desktop system? Is it connected to a UPS? I've got a USB
attached APS Back-UPS CS 500, and I'm wondering if somehow that's
triggered XP to create hiberfil.sys.
