OK to delete Hibernation file?

A

I have a 2 gig file in root of C: called HIBERFIL.SYS (2,095,852 KB)

Probably created the last time my system went into hibernation (I was
testing the UPS shutdown on power failure).

Is it OK to delete this huge file? After all, a new hibernation file should
get created the next time the PC needs to hibernate...

My system has 2 GB of RAM, although only a small portion of it is in use at
any time... Why is the Hibernation file so big, if the applications are not
using up all this RAM?

The hiberfil.sys file is exactly equal to the amount of RAM installed in the
system. It must be so, in order for hibernation to function.

Turn of hibernation and the file will be eliminated.
