XP Hangs after logo load

just did a clean install of XP Pro and it went all right
until the 2nd windows xp logo came up.. the one before
you login with a username... it just hangs after the logo
load screen with a black screen... Ive let it sit for
about 6-7 hours and it hasnt done anything... The onlly
way i can actually get on my computer is through safemode

try resetting the date and time, sounds to simple to be true , but it
worked like a charm for me.. no more hang
