Hi,
My father-in-law has just upgraded from ME to XP pro. The
load appeared to go well, but when he re-starts the
computer it only gets to the welcome page, it then
freezes for about 4-5minutes and then starts the boot up
again. I can get to the A command prompt by loaded with a
win 98 floppy, but from there it won't accept setup.exe
to start the disc loading again. He didn't make the
rescue discs for XP.Doh!
Can anyone help?

Were you sure his machine could handle XP? Is it a proprietary machine
like a Compaq or HP? It may have hardware that is incompatible with XP,
or being older, may have marginal or failing hardware. Without more
details from you about the computer, it's hard to give you a specific
answer. Post back with those details and we'll see what we can do. Or
just tell him to put ME back on the machine.
