xp boot freeze

When i boot windows now it decides its going to freeze up in the boot process
everything seems normal it does the little progress bar moving and between
that screen and the welcome screen it just freezes and never starts again, i
have tried to load safe mode but the same issue arises, any help much
appreciated

If you can't get to the desktop even in safe mode chances are you
have a hardware problem.
Remove all unnecessary peripherals from your PC [ext USB printer etc] and
test the following items

1. HDD with the manufacture's diagnostic tool
2. RAM with memtest86+ www.memtest86.com
3. Power supply, if within your capabilities with a multi meter to
determine correct voltages on the 3.3, 5 & 12 volt lines
4. swap out the graphics card

If all the above are OK try a repair installation
