To all of the XP experts out there:

I have a serious problem with my Window XP Pro, desperately need your help.

Everything seems to be fine when it got to the Welcome Screen. However, when
I clicked on my name icon, the XP froze. It just said “loading your personal
settings.." Nothing is responsive from this point. No matter which key I
press or mouse button I click.

I try several time with restart button and turn off/On the computer. Nothing
seems to be working. it got to the same point, then freezes again. There is
no blue screen, windows is loading fine, I have no clue what is the problem

Please help me. Thanks very much.

Ok, here is the simple part. Boot into Safe Mode using the Administrator
account. Create a new user account. Boot into normal mode using the new
account. If this works then your profile is corrupt and you will need to
copy your data into the new account. To copy the data into the new account
you can us Windows but I would be leary about this I would boot from Bart PE
or Linux System Rescue CD or any other utility that can read/write NTFS and
copy the data to the new profile.

Hello,

Sometimes just turning off the computer may not be enough. Try unplugging it
from the electrical outlet for at least 30 seconds. Then plug it back in and
turn it on.

If that doesn't work, boot into "Safe Mode" and try to log into your account
that way. If that works, log out and restart to see if logging in under
"Safe Mode" helped repair your profile. This may sound unlikely, but it may
work.

To get to "Safe Mode", restart your system, while it boots up, press F8, and
choose "Safe Mode".
You may get a different boot option such as what drive to boot to. Just
press Esc. and press F8 again. Then you will get the choices of which "Safe
Mode" will be one of the choices.

If it hangs when you try to log in under "Safe Mode", restart into "Safe
Mode" and try logging in as "Administrator". Then go into "My Computer" and
open the documents folder with your profile name and copy all of your
personal files to the "Shared Documents" folder. Then create a new user
profile for yourself. Then restart your computer and log in to your new
profile. Go back into "My Computer" to the "Shared Documents" folder and
move all of your files into your new "My Documents" folder.

I hope this helps, good luck.
