XP Format Problem

Been having some problems trying to do a fresh install of Windows on my
computer. When I try to remove my C: partition and re-format to start from
fresh, it gives me the error: "This partition contains temporary Setup files
that are required to complete the installation."

How do I bypass this? The installation CD I am using is the Full version,
not the upgrade. I want to completely re-format and install a fresh OS.

How are you starting the installation? That error message will
be displayed if you start the installation from within your
current Windows XP installation. You need to boot your system
from the CD. To do this you'll need to access the setup program
for your computer's BIOS and change the boot device order to
list the CD drive first. Consult the documentation for you
system for help on configuring your computer's BIOS.

Good luck

Thanks Nepatsfan,

This was indeed the problem. I thought I had already changed the boot
sequence, and I must not have been paying that close attention to the fact
that it didnt say it was booting from the CD.

After changing that setting and booting from the CD, I was able to delete
the partition and begin the Re-install process.

Thanks again for the help.

If you are booting from C drive to Dos and running the Dos install
program winnt.exe this may be the problem. You need to boot from the CD
to do a clean install.
